Tech Valley Pakistan and Karachi Police Join Forces to Propel Policing into the Digital Age with Google Workspace Karachi, 30th October 2023 — Karachi Police and Tech Valley Pakistan, a Google Workspace and Google for Education Partner in Pakistan are proud to announce a transformative collaboration aimed at revolutionizing law enforcement through digital innovation. This visionary initiative promises to streamline policing processes, resulting in more effective law enforcement and enhanced public safety. An MOU was signed between Mr. Imran Yaqub, DIG Administration, Karachi Police with Mr. Umar Farooq, CEO Tech Valley Pakistan, in the presence of Regional head of Google for Education, Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan, Mr. Paul Hutchings and Google for Education Consultant for Asia Pacific Region, Mr. Harris Sufian. Mr. Imran Yaqub, DIG Administration Karachi Police said, “The Karachi Police is committed to enhancing its operational capabilities through technology, and the adoption of Google Workspace is a pivotal step towards achieving this goal. Under this partnership, every Karachi Police official will receive a secure digital identity, ensuring streamlined access to critical information.” Mr. Umar Farooq, CEO of Tech Valley, emphasized, “This partnership marks a significant step in our mission to leverage technology for societal betterment. To kick start this journey, Tech Valley will be donating 10 Chromebooks to the training department to help them explore how these devices can be helpful across the whole police department. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IT Board and World Bank hosted a Roundtable discussion in Karachi to Promote BPO Spaces in Peshawar and Abbottabad October 26, 2023 Karachi – Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IT Board in collaboration with World Bank and Tech Valley Pakistan, recently concluded a highly successful consultative session in Karachi, the economic hub of Pakistan. The event brought together industry leaders, and key stakeholders to discuss and strategize the growth and potential of “Workaround” which is Pakistan’s first publicly funded Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Ready Facility in Abbottabad and Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The consultative session was marked by insightful discussions, valuable insights, and a shared vision for the future of BPO and IT companies in the region. Attendees included representatives from both local and international BPO and IT firms, who were keen on exploring the opportunities presented by “Workaround.” As a government project, Workaround operates on a non-profit, non-loss model. Companies hosted here are charged based on actual expenses incurred for rent, utilities, and operational activities. This ensures a cost-effective solution for business needs of every kind of IT & BPO companies. It provides flexibility for OTservices, call center and back-office support operations, and many companies are already renting spaces in Peshawar. KP IT Board MD Dr Ali Mahmud said: “Workaround will offer IT companies a number of advantages, including subsidized costs and access to a young and talented workforce. We believe that this will make Peshawar and Abbottabad attractive destinations for IT companies from around the globe .” Tech Valley, acting as the local ecosystem partner in collaboration with the KPITB, is playing a pivotal role in advancing the mission of promoting local employment opportunities in the region. This strategic collaboration not only reinforces the vision of Workaround but also serves as a catalyst for job creation and economic growth in Abbottabad, Peshawar and its surrounding areas. “The World Bank has been supporting digital inclusion for youth employment in the region for nearly a decade,” said World Bank Senior Social Sector Specialist Shan Rahman. “The Workaround spaces in Peshawar and Abbottabad will provide IT companies with the resources they need to succeed and grow. Tech Valley and Beaconhouse National University Collaborate to Offer Google Career Certification Scholarship Program Lahore, Pakistan – October 4, 2023 – Tech Valley Pakistan and Beaconhouse National University (BNU) today announced a collaboration to offer the Google Career Certification Scholarship Program to BNU students and explore other Google for Education initiatives. Under the terms of the agreement, BNU will offer 500 scholarships to its students, granting them access to Google’s prestigious certification courses free of cost. This will equip BNU students with in-demand skills across various fields, including data analytics, digital marketing & e-commerce, IT support, project management, and user experience (UX) design. In addition, the two organizations will explore the potential of Chromebooks deployment and other Google for Education initiatives to support teaching and learning at BNU.
