Pakistan — Tech Valley, in partnership with Google, has officially launched Digital Sahafat 2.0, a nationwide media literacy program aimed at equipping 3,000 journalists and media students across Pakistan with the skills, tools, and resources to produce accurate, engaging, and trustworthy digital news stories.
The program is being delivered in two phases:
- Phase One: Over 50 Master Trainers from leading newsrooms, universities, and media organizations are being trained directly by Google trainers.
- Phase Two: These Master Trainers will cascade their learning to thousands of journalists and media students nationwide.
Digital Sahafat 2.0 kicked off in July with a dedicated Train the Trainer session, where participants explored advanced digital tools, fact-checking, and verification techniques. This year, the program puts a stronger focus on AI-powered tools such as NotebookLM and Pinpoint, while continuing to build core skills using Google Lens, Advanced Search, and Maps.
With an emphasis on greater female participation and outreach to remote regions, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Balochistan, Digital Sahafat 2.0 aims to foster a new generation of tech-enabled, ethically-driven storytellers.
Stay tuned — registrations for the next round will be opening soon.
